Introducing our new conductor, Michael Tyree from Harrisonburg, in our first annual Holiday Jubilee featuring holiday favorites including Bach's Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light, selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker , Appalachian Carol, Sleigh Ride, Hine Ma Tov, Vivaldi's Winter with soloist, Hilary Day, Jingle Bells with youth from the NCCO String Education Program, and Handel's Messiah - Hallelujah with local and regional community choristers.
“An Evening at the Opera”

Guest conductor, John Murton from Washington DC, will lead this final performance of the season featuring a collaborative performance with the Crozet Hand Bell Choir of Andante from Concerto in G Major, by Antonio Vivaldi. The orchestra will also play Gluck’s Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Orfeo, Handel’s Lascia ch’io pianga from Rinaldo and Ombra mai fù from Serse, Puccini's Humming Chorus from Madama Butterfly and Quando m'en vo from La Boheme, Verdi's Questa o quella from Rigoletto and Bizet's Habanera, Intermezzo and Les Toreadors from Carmen. Free admission – donations welcome.

This concert will feature McGaheysville United Methodist Church Chancel Choir with soloist, Sydney Wilkins, performing with the orchestra, Handel’s"O Thou That Tellest" Messiah, and Battle Hymn of the Republic and our 'Music Magic' String Education Program youth. Performing under the direction of guest conductor, Michael Tyree of Harrisonburg, NCCO will also present, a mix of classical and popular music including Beethoven's 5th Symphony, Bach's Choral Prelude, and Holst's Green Brooke Suite and popular pieces, Stravinsky’s Firebird, 007 Themes, and Salute to the Big Apple and The Parting Glass arranged by Michael Tyree. A reception will follow to greet the choir and guest conductor.
The McGaheysville United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, under the direction of Michael Tyree and accompanied by Judy Short, provides music each Sunday for the 11:00 am worship service at McGaheysville United Methodist Church. The choir sings music of varying styles including favorites from classic choral literature as well as gospel, jazz, and American patriotic and folk songs. Their mission is to bring the peace of Christ to the world through their joy of making music, as well as create an atmosphere within the choir where aspiring musicians can grow both individually and collectively.

Under the direction of guest conductor, Rick LaRue we'll be playing fun and familiar movie themes, Colours of the Wind, Lord of the Rings Theme, and Askokan Farewell, and favorites, Holst’s Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, La Cinquantaine and Cavalleria Rusticana. This concert will also feature local jazz artists Joe Tucker on vibraphone, Bob Bowen on bass, and Stephan LaRue on drums accompanied by the NCCO playing El Cumbanchero, and Stolen Moments, and young musicians of the Music Magic Nelson String Education Program.
