Wandering Minstrels reaching out to the community
Hey The Wandering Minstrels is a small subgroup NCCO musicians who travel and perform for free without a conductor to reach out to the severely under-served in our community. The group brings music to smaller audiences in the community who normally do not have the opportunity to otherwise experience because of a disability, developmental handicap, illness and/or they face travel barriers.
The Wandering Minstrels have performed for residents of JABA’s Ryan Apartments, a senior living facility in Shipman, Arc of the Piedmont, an adult developmental facility in Lovingston, Meridian House in Piney River, Johnson Senior Center in Amherst and Lovingston Rehabilitation Center, and senior center programs held at the Afton Fire Department, and Nelson Senior Center in Lovingston. Planning, and music selection for these performances is done by Wandering Minstrel participants.
